SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Vendors, artists, and politicians took in Westcott Street’s annual cultural fair this weekend.
The 30th annual Westcott Cultural fair was held Sunday afternoon. The fair featured more than 120 booths with various vendors and crafters boasting of handmade items including clothing, art, and food. Elected officials, churches, school groups, and all are welcome here on Westcott street this time of year.
Governor Kathy Hochul made a trip to Syracuse. Governor was joined by Mayor Ben Walsh and several other elected officials who marched in the parade.
For the chair of the Westcott cultural fair, Sharon Sherman, her day was made with the parade’s biggest guest.
“I think the high point is that the governor came and marched in the parade, ” Sherman said, “so that was a high point.”
Governor Hochul marched through a drizzle. That weather persisted all day. Sherman, though, was thrilled with the turnout despite the conditions.
“This time is really showing rain or shine,” she said. “When we were setting up it was really raining, and we’ll just see how it goes but we’re pretty well prepared and that’s Syracuse, right. “
