Harvey’s Garden Finally Grows Harvey's Garden can Finally Grow

Jack Gordon: It may not look like much right now. This warehouse has been abandoned for over 4 years, but not for much longer. This empty space is the future home of Harvey’s Garden. Michael Greene has big dreams for his business.

Michael Greene: (” I think its gonna be a place on the day-to-day you can come here and grab a bite to eat with a few friends but then for big events we want it to be the community gathering space.”)

Jack Gordon: Harvey’s Garden will be the first of its kind in Syracuse. A food truck park and outdoor space for yard games and seating. The indoor will have a bar and a self-serving beer wall.

Michael Greene:(“We really want it to kind of have an industrial feel to it since it’s a warehouse and add some warmth to it and hopefully when you’re inside it almost feels like you’re in someone’s backyard and you’ve been invited to a really cool backyard party.”)

Jack Gordon: Greene has big aspirations for Harvey’s Garden because it looks like this.A 6,000 square foot warehouse that is yet to begin construction.Project manager Zach Badger is excited to get things going.

Zach Badger: (“I think its gonna be a great thing for Syracuse. It’s fun to have businesses like this that’re out of the ordinary but are fun to go to.”)

Jack Gordon: Just like Badger, Greene hopes Harvey’s garden is more than just a dining spot.

Michael Greene: (“We hope that it uplifts the whole neighborhood. That this is gonna be a place people can gather, they can get a bite to eat, they can get together and meet their neighbors. So we hope it will help spur additional activity in the neighborhood.”)

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – On 1200 E. Water St there lies 6,000 vacant square feet and an abandoned warehouse. It’s been empty for over four year but not for long.

The deserted lot is the future home of Harvey’s Garden. It’s set to be a community beer hall and food truck park–the first of its kind in Syracuse.

The indoor portion of Harvey’s will have a self-serve beer wall with several kinds of drafts as well as a full bar. There will be seating indoors but it doesn’t end there. Outside, Harvey’s will have picnic tables, outdoor games, and plenty of food options.

Harvey’s Garden won’t make their own food, but they will have a food truck park for customers to choose multiple options. To supply the trucks and various food options, Harvey’s is partnered with the Syracuse Food Truck Association.

The man responsible for this endeavor is an unlikely candidate. Michael Greene, a Syracuse Common Councilor, hopes his project can be shared by many.

“I think its gonna be a place on the day-to-day you can come here and grab a bite to eat with a few friends but then for big events we want it to be the community gathering space,” Greene said.

The project broke ground on September 28, but there won’t be a complete overhaul of the warehouse. Greene plans for this unique venue to be different from anything already in the area.

“We really want it to kind of have an industrial feel to it since it’s a warehouse and add some warmth to it and hopefully when you’re inside it almost feels like you’re in someone’s backyard and you’ve been invited to a really cool backyard party,” Greene said.

The CBD Construction Company is leading the charge of creating Harvey’s Garden. Zach Badger, the project manager for the construction, is excited for what him and his team are about to make.

“I think its gonna be a great thing for Syracuse. It’s fun to have businesses like this that’re out of the ordinary but are fun to go to,” Badger said.

Badger plans for the construction to be complete in December. The construction consists of remodeling the warehouse and redesigning the surrounding area.

The name for Harvey’s Garden didn’t come out of nowhere. Syracuse’s first mayor, Harvey Baldwin, envisioned that the city would become a highly populated area with hanging gardens along the streets.

Mayor Baldwin’s dream is coming true with Harvey’s Garden and its hanging gardens.
