Holiday Season Has Arrived at Theodore’s Restaurant Holiday Season Has Arrived at Theodore's Restaurant

By Cameron French CANASTOTA, N.Y. (NCC News) – As the calendar turns from October to November, the holiday season is quickly approaching. After many people spent the 2020 holidays cooped up at home, people across the country are looking to get back out and gather with friends, family and coworkers this time around.

The pandemic has been a challenge for many businesses in the food and restaurant business, and Theodore’s Restaurant is one of several businesses across Central New York hosting a variety of gatherings throughout the holiday season. Owners Polli and Ted Field say they have stayed busy between their customers in the restaurant and guests in the event room.

“We have a dinner theater that’s going on right now. It’s a show [with] little skits then dinner,” Field said. “We have our clubs that are coming back from all over. School events are going to start opening up hopefully.”

While the Fields see regular interest in events like club meetings, birthdays, graduations and more throughout the year, they are expecting an even busier next few months.

“We’re having holiday parties, banquets, you know the usual holiday events, a lot of Christmas parties,” Polli and Ted Field said. “There’s a lot of corporations that are still going to have some parties. Not as big as they used to, but they’re still going to have something.”

Joseph Martin, one of the dinner theater actors, is excited about the opportunity to interact with the local community at the restaurant’s gatherings again.

“I’m a people person, so I’m a little extroverted,” Martin said. “So I like meeting the people and seeing new faces and getting to know them.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released a set of guidelines to celebrate holidays safely. The CDC recommends outdoor settings, avoiding crowded and poorly ventilated spaces and not hosting or attending a gathering if you are sick or have COVID-related symptoms. Owner Polli Adler Field says they have found ways to safely and efficiently run their restaurant while following state and local health and safety guidelines.

“Most people are vaccinated, but some are not, and that’s okay because there’s rules to follow,” Field said. “And so far, knock on wood, we haven’t had any problems.”

Theodore’s Restaurant is located at 3231 Seneca Turnpike, Canastota, NY 13032. The restaurant is open from 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday-Saturday. People can visit their website if they are interested in visiting or booking an event at Theodore’s Restaurant.
