With many Easter and Holy Week celebrations cancelled last year due to the early stages of the pandemic, there are many question marks on how the week and Easter will look this year. In Central New York, churches in the area will give people the opportunity to attend some of their favorite Holy Week events and services.
At University United Methodist Church, they will be holding both virtual and in-person services throughout the week. Guests can either request an appointment to go to the church or they can view from the safety of their own homes. Palm Sunday and Holy Thursday will be held online. On Good Friday, the church will be giving away food to about 200 families in need and will open their sanctuary from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Easter, they have options for both in-person and virtual services. Guests can register on their website. The church welcomes all to come to their services.
At Plymouth Congregational Church in downtown Syracuse, their Holy Week services will be online. They will broadcast their services on Zoom and Facebook Live. The church is also allowing reservations for prayer and meditation during the week. On Easter, the church is holding their communion on Facebook live at 10 a.m. The church is welcoming all guests, new and old. Their schedule for the week can be found on their website.
