By Gabrielle Riles, SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – Morse Manufacturing hosted a grand opening at the new plant in North Syracuse on Wednesday.
Morse Manufacturing makes drum handling equipment that moves and operates industrial barrel drums.
The company celebrated in Salina with an official ribbon cutting ceremony. Government officials, including Onondaga County executive Ryan McMahon, joined the company’s president Nathan Andrews to cut the ribbon.
Andrews thanked Onondaga County and McMahon for all of the donations to the renovations of the new facility.
“Ryan McMahon and the economic development department was instrumental with providing us a pilot agreement for property tax relief as well as sales tax abatement for the building construction materials.”
He also went on to thank Empire State Development for the $500,000 capital grant donation and Nation Grid for the $100,000 contribution for upgrading the electrical service at the building.
The state-of-the-art facility was a 7.5 million dollar project. The company currently only operates in 90,000 square feet of the 120,000 square feet building.
The company has much more space than original 30,000 square feet East Syracuse location.
Pete Magovski is an engineer at Morse Manufacturing and is excited for the upgrades at the new building.
“There is plenty of efficiencies that we have compared to where we came from. Due to the size of it we’re able to increase the amount of machines that we have.”
The company now have a powder-coat painting system to paint drum barrels, a welding ventilation system to extract fumes from the air, and multiple truck lanes.
Morse Manufacturing is a family-owned business that has been operating in Syracuse since 1923.
