About 14.5% of the total student population at Syracuse University is Jewish, according to the Syracuse Hillel.
Anti-Semitic actions over the past week targeted students of this demographic, such as SU Law student and Syracuse native Jake Goldsmith.
“Honestly, it’s been really weird. Like, people are really concerned. We took time out of a class to have a conversation about how people felt about this. That is so beyond the scope of anything we’ve done in law school,” said Goldsmith.
A recent anti-Semitic email threatening a Jewish professor at SU left sophomore Television, Radio, and Film major Jen Levin upset about the hate towards her religion.
“I think that is disrespectful for a student to send a message to a professor like that, but it hurts to read that,” Levin said.
No suspect connected to any of the anti-Semitic actions has been found.
