Anchor, Malachi W : An iconic Syracuse University arena is undergoing major construction this summer to make it more comfortable and N-C-C’s Shariden Truly has more on this.

Reporter, Shariden T: The iconic J-M-A Dome, a staple for Central New Yorkers for decades, is undergoing a major renovation, including the installation of brand-new seats. The state of New York has invested three million dollars to support this extensive makeover, aiming to enhance the experience for all attendees.

Reporter: Ticketholders like Dan Keegus say they’re excited about the new seating currently being installed.

Dan Keegus: “I’ve been a die-hard fan my whole life but I think mainly the thing that drew me away  from the dome was the seating.”

Reporter, Truly: Keegus noted that for a while, the dome did not have AC which led to major uncomfortablity for many.

Keegus: “It’s gonna be big, because you’re not going to feel like you’re outside at a little league stadium anymore, you’re going to feel like you’re in one of the major college stadiums for all sports. I think it’s gonna be a huge impact.”

Reporter, Truly: While attendees have had mixed experiences in the past, the current renovations aim to address their concerns and provide them with an upgraded and modern experience.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) –The JMA Wireless Dome is undergoing a full transformation. On Tuesday, the state of New York invested $3 million into the project. After hosting various events catering to Central New Yorkers for the past few decades, attendees look forward to the upgraded experience.

Ticketholders like Dan Keegus say they are excited about the new upgrades, as the dome was not up to par in previous years.

“It’s always been a mixed experience. For a while, it was the Carrier Dome and it didn’t have air conditioning. That was the biggest drawback for a lot of people coming to games,” Keegus said.

According to JMADome2024.com, the transformation aims to address these issues by ensuring renovations are modernized.

Attendees are concerned about the seating, noting how uncomfortable the previous silver benches were.

“I’ve been a die-hard fan my whole life but I think mainly the thing that drew me away from the dome was the seating cause you couldn’t always get great seating,” said Keegus.

The JMA Wireless Dome is getting new blue seats, which began earlier this month. The new seating arrangement will adjust the capacity and rearrange the seating map. The school is expecting the updated capacity to be about 42,000. Syracuse.com noted that the updated seats will not have cupholders to comply with building codes.

“We’re seeing new construction and that’s going to be a big deal and we’re going to see a lot more people in the seats,” Keegus said.

The dome will reopen at the end of August. Ticketholders can see upcoming events and seating arrangements online at cuse.com.
