Potts: Those are the tunes of the Cadleys, a local country band that works with the Upstate Foundation to bring to joy to patients in the Upstate Cancer Center. Cathy Cadley, one of the band’s lead vocalists, says as long as people can hear them, that’s all that matters.

Cadley: There may be nobody in our, in the space immediately, but we know that the sounds are sort of going around and, and getting in people’s ears and uh, to us that means we’re doing something good.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Every year, the Upstate Foundation looks for new ways to try to bring positive energy to the people of Central New York. One event that’s stayed the same has been performances from The Cadleys in the Music Atrium of the Upstate Cancer Center.

Cathy Cadley, a lead vocalist for the local band, said the group plays with the same passion, even if their audience is not particularly large. She also said The Cadleys have been working with the Upstate Foundation for several years.

“We never know who’s going to be here. There might be one or two people sitting and actively listening,” Cadley said. “There may be nobody in a space immediately, but we know that the sounds are sort of going around and getting in people’s ears. And to us, that means that we’re doing something good.”

The Upstate Foundation was established in 1976 as a not-for-profit organization to receive charitable gifts with an emphasis on education, patients and more.

The Cadleys proudly work with the Foundation several times throughout the year to perform for the people that the organization dedicates its efforts to.

“We’re happy to be part of what the Foundation does here and what the Cancer Center does. Folks here are just amazing. So we’re glad to be contributing in some small way,” Cadley said.
