Syracuse, N.Y. (NCC News)– A local brewery is bringing a taste of October to the summer. Willow Rock Brewing Company is running an Oktoberfest event in August.  This will be the first time the brewery has held this event as it hopes to bring the Syracuse community together to cheers to the end of summer. With the help of Danzer’s German restaurant, the unique summer celebration will be an indoor and outdoor block party.

Co-owner Rockney Roberts says the inaugural event will bring a foreign cultural experience to Syracuse. German dancers and bands will be playing throughout the day’s event. The “Oktoberfest” beer made by the brewery is a customer favorite, but that won’t be the only beer available. Along with all their other beers, the historic “Syracuse Congress” beer will be available for purchase as the company pushes its revival.

The company is expecting a packed house, but with COVID-19 concerns on the rise, Roberts says the brewery is following the C-D-C guidelines and has safety precautions in place. Sanitization stations are all over the building and outdoor areas as well as plenty of space for everyone to feel comfortable. In a recent interview, he stated “We have plenty of space. We have over two-thousand indoor square feet and over ten-thousand outdoor square feet, so people can be distanced and stay safe.”

The event will be held Saturday, August 14 from 12-10PM.
