An Opportunity For Antique Dealers Across The Country.

By Olivia Matalon SYRACUSE, N.Y (NCC News) — As the annual Salt City Holiday Antiques Show arrives in Syracuse this weekend, the Syracuse Antique Exchange prepares for the event. Matt Pastore, the General Manager of the Syracuse Antique Exchange, said he is excited for his store’s new approach at the Antiques Show.

“We haven’t done advertising in this way, so we’re setting up a booth with a couple items for sale,” Pastore said. “The primary function of our booth is going to be to advertise our store.”

While dealers from the Syracuse Antique Exchange had come to the event 5 to 6 years ago, Pastore wanted this year to be focused more on their actual store than the dealing of specific items. Pastore said he is proud of his store, and wants more prospective dealers from the event to learn about his store.

“We’re excited and our dealers are excited because shows like this bring dealers from other parts of the country to our area,” Pastore said. “It provides a way for people to see things they don’t normally see.”

This year’s Antique Show will feature almost 200 vendors from seven to eight states. Steven Allman, the manager and promotor of the event, wanted the event to include vendors across the East Coast, as well as local vendors and stores like Pastore’s.

“It’s a collection from exhibitors and antique dealers that come from all over the East Coast here,” Allman said.”Michigan, I believe, is the farthest, and we have a Florida as well.”

The event will be held in the Horticulture building at the New York State Fairgrounds, starting Saturday from 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m and Sunday at 10:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m.
