FAYETTEVILLE, N.Y. (NCC News) – The Food Bank of Central New York is hosting their annual Wicked Woods event this weekend just in time for the spooky season to begin. The Halloween-themed drive-through display attracts locals every year.

Development Manager Heidi Soine said she’s expecting a large turnout this year, considering how successful the last two years have been for the food bank. In 2021 and 2022 combined, the food bank raised over 2500 pounds of non-perishable food donations and over $1500 in cash donations – all in just two nights.

With the holidays being right around the corner, Wicked Woods is one of the food bank’s most important events of the year. Soine said the donations raised at this event help families feed people throughout the holiday season.

“They want to make sure everybody has that holiday meal, you know. This food drive really helps the food bank fill those empty shelves in our warehouse,” Soine said.

The Halloween fun will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 21st at Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville. The food bank is asking guests to make a non-perishable food donation at the entrance. Those who want to attend can enter the park through the Route 5 entrance.
