SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – Syracuse Tree Farms has opened for the season, and families are coming to find the perfect Christmas tree. The Martini family opened the tree farm in 1997.
“My favorite part of owning the tree farm is the joy it brings people,” said Linda Martini, co-owner of the farm along with her husband, Daniel.
For a lot of families, spending time decorating their tree is just as important as any other holiday tradition.
“This is my second time [coming to the farm], I really like it,” said Silus Petrie, a boy who was with his family shopping for a tree. “I like getting the tree and putting the ornaments on, seeing all the old ornaments I’ve made before and trying to put up as much as we can.”
With a variety of trees, from Douglas and Frasier firs to various spruces, there’s no shortage of options to choose from. That may come in handy for those looking to have more than one in their home.
“We get a tree every year, it’s a tradition to cut one down,” said Rhea Pelletier, another customer buying a tree with her husband, Jim. “We had two last year, this year we’re going to do four. We have a big Victorian [home] so we want one in every window!”
The holidays are all about spending time and making memories with those closest to you, and knowing the joy that their customers get from their trees is what motivates the Martinis to keep the farm going for years to come.
“It does warm my heart. It brings back memories of my own children being little, along with the warmth and joy of Christmas time,” said Linda Martini.
