SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News)— A marijuana lounge has been proposed to open in Armory Square. The owner of the popular restaurant Funk N Waffles, Adam Gold, looks forward to the traffic that the new marijuana lounge will bring.
Gold believes his restaurant will attract more customers. “I think the name of our business and our atmosphere align somewhat to the customers you know that would go to a place like the marijuana lounge,” Gold said.
Mary Cammilleri lives in Armory Square and frequents the shops, restaurants, and bars there weekly.
Cammilleri thinks that opening a marijuana lounge will start more conversation within the community. “I think a lot of people have a mixed opinion about marijuana so it probably is going to bring a lot of conversation about cultural differences,” Cammilleri said.
There are some people that worry about the danger that the lounge could potentially bring to the area, but Cammilleri has no concerns that the lounge will be paired with danger in any way.
