Sam Reis, Reporter: Manny’s is a store that sells Syracuse University merchandise but store manager Bill Nester says the reason his store continues to thrive goes well beyond that.

Bill Nestor, Manny’s Owner: If you try to be a dollar store, like other stores on this street, you know bargain basement stuff, it just doesn’t work. That’s why we’ve been here 75 years. We treat our customers right. We have a very relaxed return policy.

Sam Reis, Reporter: Nester stresses how important it is to sell apparel of all Syracuse Athletic programs, especially with one team turning a lot of heads this year.

Bill Nestor, Manny’s Owner: All the sports factor in. We love our women’s basketball team. We loved it when they made it to the final years ago. We’re hoping they get a national championship. They really deserve it.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Manny’s is a store that has been selling Syracuse University merchandise on Marshall Street for 75 years now. While it helps that Manny’s sells Syracuse gear and there continues to be a high demand for it, store manager Bill Nester believes the reason for continued success goes beyond that.

“If you try to be a dollar store, like other stores on this street, you know bargain basement stuff, it just doesn’t work,” said Nester. “That’s why we’ve been here 75 years. We treat our customers right. We have a very relaxed return policy.”

Nester highlighted how important it is to sell apparel of all Syracuse Athletic programs because he understands that customers are fans of several teams on campus coming to buy a variety of merchandise. That is especially true this year with one team garnering a lot of attention.

“All the sports factor in,” explained Nester. “We love our women’s basketball team. We loved it when they made it to the final years ago. We’re hoping they get a national championship. They really deserve it.”

Nester said that when he took over Manny’s in 1983, the store sold a lot of “orange stuff” and that’s what continues to work today.
