This is your NCC News mid day update, I’m Marco Moy.
Our top story today is a shooting at a subway station in Brooklyn that has left at least 13 people injured and at least 5 shot. Reports say smoke bombs went off before the suspect opened fire from inside a subway car. According to authorities the suspect was wearing an orange construction vest and a gas mask. Firefighters also found multiple undetonated devices. Police are still looking for the gunman.
Brian Benjamin, the Lieutenant Governor of New York is being indicted on multiple charges including bribery and connection that involves trying to exchange campaign contributions for a state grant according to state officials.
Benjamin is Governor Kathy Hochul’s #2 in command. Details are still emerging.
Applications are now open to boost child-care in certain areas deemed “deserts,” meaning they lack proper daycare programs.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced that 70 million dollars would be made available to help newly licensed, registered, or permitted child care programs in areas without quality child care.
Both Syracuse and Onondaga county fall into this category.
Taking a look at the weather today, it’s going to be a beautiful day here in Syracuse. Expect temperatures around 60 degrees all day with mostly sunny skies. That’ll likely change tomorrow though, we’re looking at temperatures in the upper 70’s with a 60% chance of thunderstorms.
