Mornings on the Hill for November 8, 2023

PEOPLE ALL ACORSS CENTRAL NEW YORK VISITED THE POLLING SITES YESTERDAY TO CAST THEIR VOTE.
BOTH THE MEN AND WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAMS HAD THEIR SEASON OPENERS THIS WEEK!
ITS THE LOWEST TEMPERATURES OF THE WEEK ALL THAT AND MORE — MORNINGS ON THE HILL

GOOD MORNING. I’M MADISON PALUMBO. THANKS FOR JOINING US FOR MORNINGS ON THE HILL.
AND I’M PATRICIA DUONG. HERE’S A LOOK AT TODAY’S TOP STORY.

OUR TOP STORY THIS HOUR. CENTRAL NEW YORKERS VISITED LOCAL POLLS YESTERDAY TO PUNCH IN THEIR VOTE.
OUR REPORTER MIKE OSTROWSKI JOINS US LIVE TO DISCUSS A PAIR OF KEY RACES IN ONONDAGA COUNTY.

THANKS PATRICIA. THE RESULTS ARE IN FOR ONONDAGA COUNTY EXECUTIVE, AND THE INCUMBENT RYAN MCMAHON HAS WON A SECOND TERM, DEFEATING DEMOCRAT CHALLENGER BILL KINNEY BY A LARGE MARGIN. MCMAHON CELEBRATED HIS VICTORY LATE LAST NIGHT AT THE DESTINY EMBASSY SUITES HOTEL.
MCMAHON HAS BEEN COUNTY EXECUTIVE SINCE NOVEMBER 2018, WHEN HE WAS APPOINTED TO REPLACE CURRENT SUNY-ESF PRESIDENT JOANIE MAHONEY. HE WENT ON TO WIN THE ELECTION IN 2019, AND NOW HAS DONE SO AGAIN. MCMAHON NOTABLY SECURED THE MAJORITY OF MAIL-IN BALLOTS, DESPITE MOST OF THOSE EARLY VOTERS BEING REGISTERED AS DEMOCRATS. ONE OF THE MAIN POLICIES MCMAHON SUPPORTS IS THE ONGOING 85 MILLION DOLLAR AQUARIUM PROJECT IN SYRACUSE’S INNER HARBOR.
THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY RACE ALSO WENT RED AS WILLIAM FITZPATRICK WAS CHOSEN TO REMAIN THE D.A. FOR A NINTH CONSECUTIVE TERM. FITZPATRICK HAS BEEN THE COUNTY PROSECUTOR SINCE 1992, THOUGH THE 71-YEAR OLD STATED THAT THIS WILL BE HIS FINAL FOUR YEARS IN OFFICE. CHALLENGER CHUCK KELLER, WHO ALSO RAN AGAINST FITZPATRICK IN THE LAST ELECTION, NEARLY HAD THE SUPPORT OF THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY, BEFORE CHRISTINE VARGA WON A LATE PRIMARY VOTE IN JUNE TO SET UP A THREE-WAY RACE.
ADDITIONALLY, TWO STATEWIDE BALLOT PROPOSITIONS, BOTH DEALING WITH DEBT LIMITS, WERE PASSED WITH OVER 60% OF VOTES IN AGREEMENT. LOCAL VOTERS ALSO PASSED A PROPOSITION THAT GIVES SUBPOENA POWER TO THE SYRACUSE CITY AUDITOR.
REPORTING LIVE, I’M MIKE OSTROWSKI FOR MORNINGS ON THE HILL.

WESCOTT RESIDENTS STRESS THE IMPORTANCE OF VOTING ON A LOCAL LEVEL.
OUR WHITNEY WILLIAMS JOINS US LIVE TO TELLS US WHAT EXERCISING THE RIGHT TO VOTE MEANS TO THE WESTCOTT COMMUNITY.

THANKS GUYS. SO WE HAD LONG-TIME VOTERS AND NEWCOMERS ALIKE GATHERED AT ERWIN FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH YESTERDAY FROM AS EARLY AS 6:30 IN THE MORNING

SISTERS CATIE AND JULIANNE SHELTON SAY THEY DO EVERYTHING TOGETHER AND THAT INCLUDES VOTING.
THEY RECENTLY MOVED TO THE WESCOTT NEIGHBORHOOD, AND THEY ARE DETERMINED TO EXERCISE THEIR RIGHTS TO VOTE, AT ANY CHANCE THEY GET, IN THEIR NEW COMMUNITY.
ELECTION DAY IS ALSO IMPORTANT TO LONG-TIME RESIDENTS LIKE DON HUGHES.
HE’S BEEN LIVING AND VOTING IN THE WESCOTT COMMUNITY FOR THE PAST 37 YEARS.
HUGHES SAYS HE THINKS VOTER TURN OUT HAS INCREASED THANKS TO COVID-19.
HE SAYS SINCE THE ONSET OF THE PANDEMIC, ABSENTEE BALLOTS HAVE BECOME LESS ONERUS AND EARLY VOTING HAS BECOME MORE POPULAR.
HOWEVER, HUGHES STILL THINKS MORE PEOPLE NEED TO TAKE VOTING SERIOUSLY.
WHILE VOTERS’ ELECTION CHOICES MAY HAVE VARIED TODAY, ONE THING THEY ALL WERE IN FAVOR OF WAS THE EASY, HASSLE-FREE VOTING PROCESS.AND OF COURSE THE ON-SITE DONUTS. FOR NCC NEWS I’M WHITNEY WILLIAMS.
WELL, THAT WAS THE SCENE HERE.
REPORTER SYDNEY SUPPLE WAS ALSO AT THE POLLS THE MINUTE THEY OPENED AT 6 A.M., SYDNEY WHAT WAS HAPPENING AT YOUR POLLING STATION?

THANKS WHITNEY. AS THE SUN COMES UP, ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY RISES FOR PEOPLE TO EXERCISE THEIR RIGHT TO VOTE.
FROM THE VILLAGE OF LIVERPOOL, BUCKLEY ROAD BAPTIST CHURCH OPENED THEIR DOORS TO GIVE PEOPLE AN OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE THEIR VOICE OR IN THIS CASE, THEIR VOTE BE HEARD.

FROM LONG TIME EXPIERENCED VOTERS TO THOSE WHO ARE VOTING FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME.
ONE THING REMAINS THE SAME, EVERY VOTE COUNTS AND EVERY VOTE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
FOR MORNINGS ON THE HILL, I’M SYDNEY SUPPLE.
BACK TO MY LADIES.

AT ONE SYRACUSE POLLING PLACE.A BAKE SALE HELPED RAISE MONEY FOR A LOCAL NURSERY SCHOOL.AS JONATHAN KINANE REPORTS

AT BELLEVUE HEIGHTS METHODIST CHURCH IN SYRACUSE.RESIDENTS OF THE CITY’S STRATHMORE NEIGHBORHOOD BEGAN TRICKLING IN AT 6 A-M…AS THE SUN ROSE.THAT TRICKLE TURNED INTO A STREAM AS PEOPLE STOPPED BY TO VOTE BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF THE WORK DAY.
NOW.AFTER ABOUT THREE HOURS.VOTER TURNOUT HAS BEEN PRETTY SOLID AT BELLEVUE HEIGHTS.BUT THAT’S NOT THE ONLY THING PEOPLE ARE SHOWING UP FOR.THE REAL STAR OF THE SHOW.THE BAKE SALE.
FOR CHRIS AND GRETCHEN KINNELL.BOTH VOLUNTEERS AT THE BAKE SALE.IT OFFERS A CHANCE TO INTERACT WITH PEOPLE FROM THEIR COMMUNITY
“I THINK IT’S GREAT WAY TO RECONNECT WITH PEOPLE WE HAVEN’T SEEN RECENTLY AND IT KIND OF OFFERS THAT CHANCE TO TELL OUR STORIES TO EACH OTHER
THIS IS THE FIRST BAKE SALE SINCE THE PANDEMIC BEGAN IN 2020.THE KINNELLS CAN TELL THAT VOTERS ARE HAPPY TO HAVE IT BACK
“MANY OF THE VOTERS WHEN THEY’D COME AND WE DIDN’T HAVE THE BAKE SALE WOULD SAY WE COME FOR THE BAKE SALE AND THEN WE VOTE”
THE EARLY RETURNS ON THE BAKE SALE’S PROFITS ARE LOOKING PROMISING.
LIKE THE POLLS…THE BAKE SALE WILL BE OPEN UNTIL 9 P-M…OR UNTIL SUPPLIES LAST.REPORTING FROM SYRACUSE, I’M JONATHAN KINANE. N-C-C NEWS

THANKS JONATHAN.THANKFULLY THE WEATHER WASN’T AN ISSUE AT THE POLLS YESTERDAY.
LET’S GO TO GRIFFIN DELLA PENNA WITH A CHECK OF THE FORECAST.
I’M FROM BUFFALO, SO I SHOULD BE USED TO THIS WEATHER RIGHT NOW. BUT I’M GOING TO BE HONEST, IT’S VERY COLD OUT HERE. THE WIND IS PLAYING A HUGE FACTOR RIGHT NOW AND THAT’S WHY IT FEELS IN THE MID TWENTIES AT THIS POINT IN TIME. WE’VE ALSO SEEN A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE WALKED BY GOING TO CLASS, BEING MUCH SMARTER THAN ME.

THEY’VE HAD THEIR HATS. THEY’VE HAD THEIR GLOVES. I’M A BOZO. DIDN’T BRING ANY OF THAT STUFF TODAY. SO I’LL BE BACK INSIDE IN JUST A LITTLE BIT TO TELL YOU MORE ABOUT YOUR UPDATED FORECAST FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK. SO NOW BACK TO YOU IN THE STUDIO.
SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY’S DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY PUT OUT A STATEMENT LAST NIGHT TO ADRESS A RECENT WAVE OF CRIME. OUR JONAH WEINTRAUB JOINS US LIVE WITH MORE.

YESTERDAY, D-P-S REPORTED THAT 3 ASSAULTS, 2 ROBBERIES, AND AN OCCUPIED BURGLARY TOOK PLACE IN THE PAST WEEK. STUDENTS WERE INVOLVED IN EACH OF THESE INCIDENTS — ALL OF WHICH OCCURRED IN NEIGHBORHOODS HEAVILY POPULATED WITH SU UPPERCLASSMEN.
ONE OF THESE STREETS INCLUDED SUMNER AVENUE AT THE CORNER OF STRA-FORD, WHERE A STUDENT WAS ALLEGEDLY JUMPED FROM HIS OWN PORCH.HAZEL WAGNER IS A STUDENT THAT LIVES JUST THREE HOUSES DOWN.

DPS HAS INCREASED ITS PRESENCE IN CAMPUS-AREA NEIGHBORHOODS OVER THE PAST FEW DAYS, BUT STILL URGES STUDENTS TO BE AWARE OF THEIR SURROUNDINGS. IT ALSO MENTIONED THAT IT’S UNCLEAR IF THESE CRIMES ARE CONNECTED.
TO REPORT ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TO DPS, YOU CAN CONTACT THEM AT 315-443-2224.
REPORTING LIVE FOR MORNINGS ON THE HILL, I’M JONAH WEINTRAUB.

COMING UP ON MORNINGS ON THE HILL —
A THRILLING MOVIE IS OUT ON PARAMOUNT IN A MONTH, FIND OUT WHO ITS ABOUT AFTER THE BREAK

IT WAS ON OFF-YEAR ELECTION BUT VOTERS IN OHIO MADE TWO IMPORTANT DECISIONS.CHOOSING TO LEGALIZE ABORTION AND MARIJUANA
AND IN TWO CLOSE GUBERNATORIAL RACES.KENTUCKY CHOSE TO RE-ELECT DEMOCRAT ANDY BESHEAR AND MISSISSIPPI ELECTED REPUBLICAN TATE REEVES TO A SECOND TERM IN A CLOSER THAN EXPECTED RACE

AND HE WAS OUTSIDE AND NOW HE’S INSIDE.
GRIFFIN DELLA PENNA IS NOW IN STUDIO WITH A LOOK AT YOUR FULL WEATHER FORECAST.
PATRICIA, THANK YOU. MY HANDS ARE STILL DEFROSTING, BUT I STILL THINK I CAN DO THIS SEGMENT. SO IF YOU CURRENTLY LOOK 33 DEGREES, FEELS LIKE 27 AT THIS POINT IN TIME AND IT’S GOING TO BE A SOMEWHAT CLOUDY DAY. THE SUN WILL PEAK THROUGH THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE AFTERNOON. OTHER THAN THAT, THOUGH, PRETTY NORMAL CONDITIONS. THE WIND WILL BE MUCH HIGHER TOMORROW, ABOUT 6 TO 11 MILES PER HOUR HERE TODAY.

BUT THEN AS WE LOOK INTO TOMORROW, YOU GET A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING. YOU MIGHT HAVE SOME FLURRIES IN THE MORNING. A SNOW RAIN MIX IN THE EARLY MORNING, THEN IN THE AFTERNOON, THAT’S WHEN THE WIND IS REALLY GOING TO GET GOING UPWARDS TO 41 MILES AN HOUR TOMORROW AROUND NOON. AND THAT’S GOING TO BE VERY CRUCIAL FOR THE REST OF SYRACUSE AS IT IS A WIND TUNNEL, WHICH I JUST EXPERIENCED.

THEN LOOKING AT THE FIVE DAY FORECAST. NOT A WHOLE LOT OF SUN FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK. OTHER THAN THAT, THOUGH, YOU’RE STILL GOING TO SEE POTENTIALLY SOME OTHER DAYS WITH SOME RAIN AND WE’LL SEE IN THE UPCOMING WEEKEND AS WELL. SUNDAY WE’LL HAVE AT LEAST A 40 DEGREE DAY WITH SOME SUNSHINE AND THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE WEEKEND. NOT A WHOLE LOT OF RAIN EITHER. SO THAT’S OUR CURRENT WEATHER FORECAST. AND I’LL SEND IT BACK TO MADISON AND PATRICIA

COMING UP ON MORNINGS ON THE HILL — BOTH S-U BASKETBALL TEAMS GOT OFF TO A GOOD START IN THEIR SEASON OPENERS
AND S-U MEN’S SOCCER LOOKS TO CONTINUE A-C-C TOURNAMENT RUN

WELCOME BACK TO MORNINGS ON THE HILL, IM KALIA BUTLER AND THIS IS YOUR SPORTS UPDATES.
ORANGE FANS, THE WAIT IS OVER, SYRACUSE BASKTBALL IS OFFICIALLY HERE.
LAST NIGHT THE WOMENS PROGRAM OPENED THEIR REGULAR SEASON PLAY WITH A 75-41 VICTORY OVER LAFAYETTE.
THREE SYRACUSE PLAYERS RECORDED DOUBLE-DOUBLES INCLUDING FRESHMAN, ALYSSA LATHAM.
NOW TO PUT IT IN SIMPLE TERMS, SHE BALLED OUT LAST NIGHT WITH 15 POINTS AND 10 REBOUNDS. A
FRESHMAN PLAYING LIKE A VETERAN.
AND SPEAKING OF VETERANS FIFTH-YEAR GUARD DEE-ASIA FAIR LED THE TEAM WITH 17 POINTS AND 11 REBOUNDS.
GRADUATE GUARD ALAINA RICE HAD 10 POINTS AND 11 REBOUNDS.
HERE’S WHAT HEAD COACH FELISHA LEGETTE-JACK HAD TO SAY ABOUT THIS TEAM.

NOW LETS PASS IT OFF TO BAILEY TO RECAP THE FIRST REGULAR SEASON IN THE AUTRY ERA.

THANKS KALIA.
THE MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM BEAT NEW HAMPSHIRE MONDAY NIGHT, EIGHTY-THREE TO SEVENTY-TWO.
THERE WERE SOME PRETTY SWEET DUNKS THROUGHOUT THE GAME.
LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT THREE OF THE BEST ONES OF THE NIGHT.

FIRST WE HAVE JUDAH MINTZ WITH THE LOCKDOWN MAN DEFENSE.
HE JUMPS THE PASS AND JUST LIKE JORDAN HE’S AIR BORN. AND THIS IS A LOOK AT WHAT’S TO COME WITH COACH AUTRY’S NEW MAN TO MAN DEFENSE. AS YOU CAN SEE HERE, MINTZ IS OFF THE BALL A LITTLE, ALLOWING HIM TO CHEAT THAT PASS AWAY FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE. THAT DEFENSE STRUGGLED A LITTLE LATER ON, BUT THIS IS ALL NEW SO CUT EM SOME SLACK Y’ALL.
UP NEXT WE HAVE A NICE STEAL FROM QADIR COPELAND WHO ACHIEVED HIS FIRST DOUBLE-DOUBLE MONDAY NIGHT. HE SNAGS THE LOOSE BALL AND GOES BACK AND FORTH WITH MINTZ FOR THIS SWEET DUNK TO FINISH IT OFF. NOW YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING WHY COPELAND DIDN’T JUST TAKE IT ALL FOR HIMSELF. BUT YOU SEE THIS SPACE THAT IS CREATED BY THE BACK AND FORTH PASSING? THAT’S WHAT COACH AUTRY SAYS HE WANTS TO SEE.
LAST WE HAVE THIS BEAUTIFUL ALLEY FROM CENTRAL NEW YORK NATIVE JJ STARLING THAT LEADS TO THIS BOMB OF AN OOP FROM PETER CAREY. COACH AUTRY VISIBLY HYPE ABOUT THAT PLAY. WE WERE TOO COACH. WE WERE TOO. LOVE TO SEE IT. HERE’S A CLOSER LOOK AT THE EXECUTION. STARLING WITH SOME STELLAR COURT AWARENESS. HE’S USING HIS PERIPHERAL VISION TO SEE A HUNGRY CAREY WAITING TO MAKE THE PLAY. ONLY A SOPHOMORE, CAREY SHOWS LOTS OF PROMISE.

TONIGHT, THE ORANGE WILL TAKE ON THE GOLDEN GRIFFINS OF CANISIUS AT SEVEN P.M. AT THE J.M.A. WIRELESS DOME. THEY’LL NEED TO IMPROVE THEIR SHOT SELECTION AND DEFENSE IF THEY PLAN ON WINNING. JUST ASK OUR WEATHER BOY, GRIFFIN DELLA PENNA, A CANISIUS UNDERGRAD WHO WAS ACTUALLY NAMED AFTER THE MASCOT. MAYBE I’LL NAME MY KID OTTO.
LET’S HEAD TO EMILY COFFEY WHO HAS A MEN’S SOCCER UPDATE.EMILY.

ORANGE MEN’S SOCCER IS BACK IN THE A-C-C SEMIFINALS FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW.
AFTER DEFEATING VIRGINIA IN PENALTY KICKS LAST SUNDAY IN CHARLOTTESVILLE.
THIS TEAM IS NO STRANGER TO THE A-C-C TOURNAMENT AS THEY ARE THE REIGNINIG CHAMPS.
COACH IAN MCINTYRE AGREES THAT THIS TEAM IS READY FOR THE CHALLENGE AHEAD.

THE ORANGE FACE NORTH CAROLINA TONIGHT, A TEAM S-U BEAT A FEW WEEKS BACK IN CHAPLE HILL.
THE MATCH WILL AIR LIVE ON A-C-C NETWORK AT 6 TONIGHT.
IF SYRACUSE WINS THE GAME TONIGHT THEY WILL ADVANCE TO THE A-C-C CHAMPIONSHIP.
TO FACE EITHER LOUSIVILLE OR CLEMSON.
THAT MATCH WILL TAKE PLACE ON SUNDAY AT NOON.

THAT’S ALL FOR YOUR SPORTS UPDATE ON MORNINGS ON THE HILL.
COMING UP, HOW FAMILY PHOTOS ARE TELLING AN IMPORTANT STORY OF THE HISTORY OF CENTRAL NEW YORK. WE’LL HEAR MORE ABOUT THIS PORTRAIT PROJECT, AFTER THE BREAK.

WELCOME BACK TO MORNINGS ON THE HILL. STUDENTS ON CAMPUS ARE RECORDING FAMILY MEMORIES
RAYSHAUN SANDLIN JOINS US LIVE WITH A SPECIAL GUEST. RAYSHAUN WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABUT THIS INITIATIVE?

THANK YOU SO MUCH, LADIES!
FOR BLACK AMERICANS, AND OTHER FOLKS OF COLOR, HAVING A RECORD AND MEMORIES OF YOUR FAMILY’S HISTORY CAN BE AN ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TASK. BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS BAN TOGETHER TO TRY AND RECTIFY THAT?
HERE AT SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY, THE TURNING THE LENS COLLECTIVE, LED BY PH.D. CANDIDATES CAROLINE CHARLES AND JESSICA TERRY-ELLIOTT, TOOK THE INITIATIVE TO DO JUST THAT. A FEW OF MY COLLEAGUES AND I WERE SELECTED TO INTERVIEW SYRACUSE FAMILY MEMBERS AS PART OF PBS’ FAMILY PICTURES USA WHERE FOLKS FROM MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES ARE INVITED TO COME AND SHARE THEIR STORIES, FAMILY PHOTOS AND TAKE NEW PHOTOS , ADDING TO THEIR FAMILY MEMORIES.

JOINING ME TO CHAT ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE IS FELLOW REPORTER AND GRAD STUDENT NADA MERGHANI.
NADA. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US.
SO, TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE AS AN INTERVIEWER FOR FAMILY PICTURES SYRACUSE?
I LOVED IT. I FEEL LIKE WE GOT TO MEET WITH AND ENGAGE WITH SO MANY INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES THAT HAD REALLY POWERFUL STORIES OF LIKE GENERATIONS OF NOT ONLY JUST SURVIVING BUT THRIVING IN SYRACUSE AND LIKE THEIR INDIVIDUAL STORIES WERE SO CONNECTED WITH WHAT WAS HAPPENING IN THE CITY AT THE TIME THAT I LIVED WITH SO MUCH.
YEAH. SO TELL ME ABOUT YOUR CONNECTION WITH THE VERY SPECIAL FAMILY. YOU GOT TO CONNECT WITH A VERY SPECIAL FAMILY DURING THIS PROJECT. YEAH, ABOUT THAT. SO ME, YOU AND ATASSI ALL MET THIS FAMILY. IT WAS THERE IN THE HEART AND JONATHAN THE HEART IN THEIR BABY, BILAL. JONATHAN WAS OR JONATHAN IS A PALESTINIAN-AMERICAN, AND THEY WERE BOTH DOING SUCH INCREDIBLE ORGANIZING AROUND THE FREE PALESTINE MOVEMENT.
AND THAT REALLY TOUCHED ME BECAUSE NOT ONLY WERE THEY INCREDIBLE ORGANIZERS LIKE THEIR LOVE WAS PALPABLE, AND YOU CAN JUST LIKE FEEL IT AS THEY WERE GETTING INTERVIEWED, HOW MUCH NOT ONLY THEY LOVED EACH OTHER, BUT THAT THEY LOVED THEIR COMMUNITIES AND THAT THEY LOVED THEIR CHILD. SO WE TOOK PICTURES TOGETHER AND I ENDED UP GOING TO DINNER AT THEIR PLACE AND LIKE REALLY BUILDING A STRONG RELATIONSHIP WITH A LOCAL FAMILY HERE.
I LOVE THAT BUILDING WITH THE COMMUNITY. AND WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST TAKEAWAY FROM THAT AND WHAT ARE YOU HOPING FOR AFTER THAT PROJECT? SYRACUSE FOR SYRACUSE, HERE I AM. I MEAN, I LEFT THAT PROJECT WITH GREAT FEELINGS BECAUSE I FELT LIKE IT FOR ME FURTHER VALIDATED THE IMPORTANCE OF ORAL HISTORY AS LIKE A REAL MECHANISM FOR NOT ONLY STORYTELLING, BUT FOR UNDERSTANDING WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE TIME.
THE FOLKS WITH THE FAMILY HISTORIES PROJECT DID A REALLY GREAT JOB OF LETTING US KNOW LIKE THAT IN TRADITIONAL WHITE LED RESEARCH SPACES, ORAL HISTORY AND LIVED EXPERIENCE DON’T HOLD THE SAME KIND OF VALUE THAT SAY, LIKE CASE STUDIES OR QUALITATIVE DATA HAS. BUT THIS EXPERIENCE SHOWED ME THAT IT’S JUST AS VALUABLE, IF NOT MORE SO, TO THE RESEARCH PROCESS.
ABSOLUTELY. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING HERE WITH US TODAY. THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME. YES, ABSOLUTELY. SO FAMILY PICTURES WILL HOLD AN EXHIBITION EVENT ON NOVEMBER THE 15TH AND THE BYRD LIBRARY HERE ON CAMPUS. AND FAMILY PICTURES USA, HOSTED BY THOMAS ALLEN HARRIS CAN BE STREAMED ON PBS. BACK TO YOU, LADIES. THANK YOU SO MUCH. AS HOLIDAY SEASON ROLLS AROUND, WE ARE UPCOMING CUFFING SEASON.

AND IF YOUR A SINGLE IN SYRACUSE, YOUR IN LUCK. ZUMPER — AN ONLINE RENTAL MARKETPLACE — CAME OUT WITH A LIST FOR THE TOP 100 CITIES TO BE A SINGLE.
SYRACUSE CAME IN AT NUMBER 44.FOR THE REST OF NEW YORK STATE, BUFFALO MADE NUMBER 35 AND ROCHESTER WAS NUMBER 23

FINALLY THIS MORNING.YOU PROBABLY COULDN’T TELL, BUT TODAY WAS A STRESSFUL DAY FOR MANY OF OUR FELLOW GRAD STUDENTS.
ABOUT AN HOUR AGO, THE REGISTRATION WINDOW FOR CLASSES OPENED. THIS IS WHEN WE ARE ALLOWED TO REGISTER FOR CLASSES NEXT SEMESTER. THE STRESS COMES FROM TRYING TO NAVIGATE A SYSTEM THAT IS A LITTLE SLOW TO RESPOND. IN THOSE FEW MOMENTS THERE IS A LOT OF STRESS IN TERMS OF WHICH CLASSES ARE OPENED AND WHICH ONES ARE NOT. GRATEFULLY MOST OF US GOT THE CLASSES WE NEEDED FOR NEXT SEMESTER.
LET ME TELL YOU, I DON’T AGREE WITH THAT RECENT POLL OF SYRACUSE BEING THE NUMBER ONE CITY TO BE SINGLE IN, BECAUSE LET ME TELL YOU, A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN IS NOT THAT EXCITING. WELL, I’M GLAD I DON’T NEED TO DEAL WITH THAT. YOU CAN COUNT ME OUT OF THOSE STATISTICS RIGHT THERE IN MADISON.

THAT IS GOING TO DO IT FOR US THIS WEDNESDAY HERE ON MORNINGS ON THE HILL. I’M MADISON PALUMBO – FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA!
I’M PATRICIA DUONG. THANKS FOR WATCHING ORANGE NATION. WE’LL SEE YOU NEXT WEDNESDAY, LIVE AT TEN A-M RIGHT HERE ON O-T-N.

Join us next Wednesday at 10am–we’re live on OTN campus cable channel 14 and live streaming at orangetvnetwork.com. Follow us on Facebook, on Twitter @MorninOnTheHill and on Instagram: @morningsonthehill. Send us story ideas!
