THE SOUND OF CONSTRUCTION HAS FILLED THE AIR IN DOWNTOWN SYRACUSE.
THE CITY IS RE-DOING WORK ON THE ROADS ON SOUTH SALINA STREET.
THIS HAS SLOWED DOWN BOTH CAR AND FOOT TRAFFIC IN THIS PART OF THE CITY, HURTING LOCAL BUSINESSES.

“We have noticed a decrease in pedestrian traffic. It has impacted our sales overall the past couple of weeks.”

WITH PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN’S JULY FOURTH 70 PERCENT VACCINATION DEADLINE APPROACHING, NEW YORK GOVERNOR ANDREW CUOMO ANNOUNCED ELEVEN NEW VACCINE POP UP CLINIC SITES WOULD OPEN UP TO HELP.
ASSUMPTION CHURCH ON NORTH SALINA STREET IN SYRACUSE WAS CHOSEN BECAUSE THE AREA HAS A LOWER VACCINATION RATE.

“So we said sure. Anything that we can do to assist would be our honor and our privilege to do so.”

FESTA ITALIANA IS RETURNING TO DOWNTOWN SYRACUSE AFTER A YEAR AWAY DUE TO THE PANDEMIC.
THE FESTIVAL WILL RUN FROM SEPTEMBER 17 TO THE 19 IN FRONT OF CITY HALL.
UP TO TWENTY ITALIAN RESTAURANTS WILL TAKE PART IN THE FESTIVAL.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC NEWS) — Road construction on South Salina Street in Syracuse has decreased foot traffic in the area. Managers of local businesses say this has hurt their bottom line the past few weeks.

Meanwhile, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that 11 new vaccine pop-up sites would be opening up to help reach President Joe Biden’s 70% national vaccination goal by July 4. Assumption Church in Syracuse is one of those sites.

Festa Italiana is coming back to the Syracuse City Hall after a year away due to COVID-19. The festival is scheduled to run from Sept. 17-19.
