MICHAEL VILLEGAS: And I’m Michael Villegas. Today is June 6th.

CARR-JOHNSON: Here are some of the stories we’re following today at NCC News.

VILLEGAS: Today’s top stories include fires from Canada affecting Central New York Air quality.

MARK PELLERITO: The recommendations are to limit your outdoor exposure and also strenuous activity.

CARR-JOHNSON: Residents are expressing concerns about the city’s plan to build the aquarium and students honored at Skaneatles.

VILLEGAS: Joining us now is Kennedy Houston. Kennedy, how has youth employment affected the economy?

KENNEDY HOUSTON: It seems like there can be a positive effect. When I spoke to Rosemary Avila of CNY Works, she’s and Carl Schramm, I got the sense that when you give these kids or use these experiences, they end up investing it back into the community. So if they get a job somewhere in the Central New York area, they may realize they have a passion for it or they may not, but it helps give them a type of focus and when they’re able to hone that focus, they apply it back into their community. So it ends up really benefiting the Central New York area overall.

CARR-JOHNSON: Thanks, Kennedy. Now turning to our sports topic, we have Cole Kirst joining us.

VILLEGAS: Cole, what’s going on in the world of sports today?

COLE KIRST: Busy week so far in the sports world. Today there’s breaking news and how the PGA and Liv Golf have decided to partner up together. We have a recap of the Stanley Cup playoffs in the Stanley Cup finals with the Vegas Golden Knights defeating the Florida Panthers by a score of seven to two. And we also have a recap of the Buffalo Bandits NLL Cup this past weekend against the Colorado Mammoth having, it’s, winning its first NLL Cup since 2008, so we got a busy week in sports.
