Next week, Onondaga county will be releasing a comprehensive county plan for the first time in over a thirty years.

The five categories expected to be adressed by County Executive Ryan McMahon’s comprehensive county plan are housing, recreation, community mobility, agriculture, and economic strength.

County Executive, Ryan McMahon says with the Micron Investment in Central New York just around the corner, a new comprehensive plan is more important than ever.

“You plan is-is your roadmap to the future and really a blueprint for investment, um, in neighborhoods. And certainly the timing couldn’t be better for our comprehensive plan to be complete and implemented as that roadmap moving forward. and certainly the timing couldn’t be better for our comprehensive plan to be complete and be implemented as that roadmap moving forward!”

Former Syracuse Probation Officer, Derrick Dotson (DOT-son), is visiting Syracuse Public Schools this week to help teach how to improve community realtions between residents and police officers.

The Public information specialist from the Syracuse Police Department, Kieran Coffey, says Dotson’s visit will hopefully help to decrease crime in young teenagers.

“Obviously, showing them that there’s a different path in life, and then we’re seeing that, obviously a rise in crime and especially in young teenagers, so we’re trying to curve that trend. Hopefully this is one of the initiatives that we’re taking that will help to curve that trend.”
