By Robert Bruin SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) - In the fall, Syracuse University and the College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) students will finally have a facility that is designed to include their needs. The Barnes Center at The Arch will have a meditation room, indoor track, multipurpose activities court, Mindspa, a new and improved pool, indoor track, smoothie bar, rock climbing center, Pet Therapy Room, and E-sports gaming room.
“It is for Syracuse University faculty and staff as well, as their dependents or families. And it’s also for ESF students, which is right across the street the dome. ESF faculty can utilize the facility as well as alumni of the university with a purchase of an alumni card.” said Aaron Jones. Also, the multipurpose center will allow students from both universities to interact.
The new facility has been under construction for more than a year. “Heading into the new building we’re looking to create a better experience for the students,” said Jones, assistant director of recreation services.
“Outside members of the community will not have access to the gym, ” said Jones. The safety of the students is very important therefore the staff created some strict guidelines that will protect the Syracuse campus.
The new recreation center was built to encourage students to take great care of their minds and bodies. Syracuse University students work hard and deserve to have a place to rejuvenate themselves.
