AS YOU CAN SEE ON THIS MOST RECENT MAP, NEW YORK STATE IS ONE OF THE
33 STATES IN WHICH MEDICAL MARIJUANNA IS CURRENTLY LEGAL.
HOWEVER, DONT GET THAT NUMBER CONFUSED WITH THE 11 STATES THAT
RECREATIONAL MARIJUANNA IS LEGAL FOR THOSE OVER THE AGE OF 21.

SYRACUSE CITY COURT JUDGE, JAMES CECILE, SAYS HE IS AGAINST NEW YORK
STATE MAKING RECRATIONAL MARUJANA LEGAL. HE SAYS WORKING AS A JUDGE,
HE SEES THE EVERYDAY EFFECTS IT HAS ON PEOPLE AND HOW IT IMPAIRS THEM.
JUDGE CECILE ALSO STATED THAT IN 2019, NEW YORK STATE DECRIMINALIZED
HAVING SMALL AMOUNTS OF MARIJUANA, WHERE THE MOST YOU CAN FACE IS A
FINE WITHOUT A CRIMINAL RECORD.

marijuana then moving on to harsher drugs such as heroin or opiods and things like that.”)

IN NEW YORK STATE, THE CURRENT MARIJUANA LAWS ARE AS FOLLOWS

1. The use of Medical Marijuana is currently legal
2. It is currently decriminalized so having small amounts will not get you into trouble and no
jail time will be issued. If a person posesses an amount of under 28 grams ( a little less than
an ounce) they will most likely face a fine.
3. Posession is not a felony under any conditions
4. Transportation of Marijuana is legal with certain Limiations
5. Perscriptions for medical Marijuana require specific medical conditions
6. The use of THC/ CBD use is limited
