New York State is cracking down on under age drinking through their initiative Operation Prevent.
State officials are not tolerant when it comes to fake IDs and confiscated nearly 900 fake IDs in 2018. This number is a record high number, compared to 814 fake ID seized in 2017.
Governor Andrew Cuomo stated he does not support under age drinking and will ensure enforcement efforts to catch people who break beverage control laws
These IDs were confiscated through Operation Prevent, program designed for middle and high school students, educators and parents nationwide in effort to educate students about the effects of drug usage and drug addition and its impact.
They are promoting healthy conversation both inside and outside the classroom.
This initiative began to combat America’s rapidly growing opioid and heroin epidemic.
