ALBANY, N.Y. (NCC News) — After technical problems derailed mandatory tests in New York State for two days, computer-based standardized testing is set to resume.
To avoid another crash, testing will be staggered when it resumes Thursday.
Education Commissioner MaryEllen Elia said she will hold Questar Assessment financially accountable for not meeting the terms of its contract.
High usage caused the problems that prevented some students from logging in and submitting their tests, Elia said. Of the 93,000 students that started the test, 93% were able to submit it.
Only about a quarter of the states roughly one million third- through eighth-grade students who are required to take the annual test take it on the computer.
