WALKER SIMMONS: It’s another big day for Central New York schools. The Oswego City School district resumed in-person learning today, and N-C-C News reporter Dan Mallea tells us how students are responding.
DAN MALLEA: Kingsford Park School welcomed a plethura of new students today. Vice president of the Kingsford Park Home and School Association Sara Rebeor has three kids at Kingsford, and she says that they’re very happy to be back.
SARA REBEOR: “They wanna be there, they wanna be socially active and engaged, and they wanna see someone other than mom and dad in person.”
MALLEA: Rebeor says parents are seeing the benefits of in-person learning at home. Kids are waking up happy, they’re excited to go to school, they’re coming home happier, and it’s improving their moods.
REBEOR: “More positive behavior, I’ve definitely seen that in my two younger ones since they’ve been back four days a week, so we’re happy that they’re back.”
MALLEA: While pre-K through sixth grade are now in person four days a week, the Oswego Superintendent says students seventh grade and above will keep their hybrid schedule. Dan Mallea, N-C-C News.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – Kingsford Park Elementary School welcomed an abundance of students back to the classroom on Monday. Vice president of the Kingsford Park Home and School Association Sara Rebeor has three kids at Kingsford, and she said they’re very happy to be back.
“They want to be there, they want to be socially active and engaged, and they want to see someone other than mom and dad in person,” Rebeor said.
Rebeor said parents are seeing the benefits of their children returning to the classroom when they come home. Since in-person learning has ramped back up, Rebeor said parents are noticing that their kids are waking up happy, they’re excited to go to school, they’re coming home happier, and it’s improving their overall moods.
“More positive behavior,” Rebeor said. “I’ve definitely seen that in my two younger ones since they’ve been back four days a week, so we’re happy that they’re back.”
