The Parade of Homes is back with the latest from CNY builders and developers.

BRADLEY HOPPENSTEIN: RAIN…OR SHINE…THE SHOW GOES ON. RATHER, THE PARADE GOES ON. IT MAY BE A MONTH LATER THAN USUAL BUT THE ANNUAL CENTRAL NEW YORK PARADE OF HOMES IS BACK. BUT DON’T THINK YOU NEED TO BE HOUSE SHOPPING TO STOP BY. AS ONE OF THE PRODUCERS OF THE PARADE OF HOMES…MARY THOMPSON SAYS MOST PEOPLE PASS THROUGH…

MARY THOMPSON:…looking for inspiration. They need a new garage door. They need new windows. They want the trendiest paint colors…

HOPPENSTEIN: THIS YEAR THERE ARE SEVEN HOMES AT THE PARADE OF HOMES. THREE…INCLUDING THIS ONE…ARE ALREADY SOLD. YOU CAN COME CHECK THEM OUT FOR THE NEXT TEN DAYS FROM ELEVEN TO SEVEN EVERY DAY.

JEREMY DORAN: I’m the co-owner of Stone Hammer Homes…

HOPPENSTEIN: BUT WHY THE EVENT WAS DELAYED ABOUT A MONTH THIS YEAR…JEREMY DORAN SAYS THE REASON BEHIND THAT…IS NOTHING NEW…

DORAN: Supply chain stuff is not as big a deal…I think we all adjusted enough. The labor shortage is definitely causing issues…just overall manpower for every phase of construction…

HOPPENSTEIN: STONE HAMMER HOMES IS ONE OF THE SEVEN DIFFERENT BUILDERS AT THIS YEAR’S EVENT…EACH DEALING WITH THE SAME SET OF ISSUES SINCE THE START OF THE PANDEMIC. BUT DORAN SAYS EVEN WITH THESE OBSTACLES AND DECLINING HOME SALES…

DORAN: It’s a great event. It allows the general public to get out and see a showcase of several different builders at one location.

HOPPENSTEIN: AND IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR MORE FUN IN ADDITION TO THE HOMES…

THOMPSON: We do, kind of, mini events. Tomorrow night we have the horndogs playing. We have street entertainment. We’re kind of doing a block party.

HOPPENSTEIN: AND THERE’S A FULL EVENTS CALENDAR ONLINE. YOU CAN GET TICKETS FOR 12 DOLLARS ONLINE OR 15 AT THE SITE. IN SYRACUSE…BRADLEY HOPPENSTEIN…N-C-C NEWS…

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – The annual Parade of Homes began its ten day run today at the “Old Town Estate” neighborhood in Onondaga. The event, which was delayed a month after some of the homes were not finished in time, serves as a showcase for some of the region’s best builders and the latest Central New York homes have to offer.

Jeremy Doran, co-owner of Stone Hammer Homes, said opening day was a bit of a mixed crowd.

“Most people come just to pass the time. Some people are coming for renovation ideas. Some people are coming for decorating ideas. And then there’s the select few that are looking to buy a house at the event or meet a future builder here, he said.”

As for the building of the homes, Doran said that supply chain issues and labor shortages are the main reason for the delay of this year’s Parade of Homes.

Mary Thompson, Executive Director of the Home Builders and Remodelers of Central New York, says to come, and even if you don’t stay for the homes, you should stay for the fun and events.

“We do, kind of mini events. Tomorrow night we have the Horndogs playing. We have street entertainment. We’re kind of doing a block party,” she said.

Every night of the ten-night event is a themed night. Thompson noted Ladies Night and the TGIF party as year over year hits.

Advance sale tickets are available online through the end of the week for $12. Tickets purchased at the event will cost $15.
