Elisa Flynn, Reporter: The party nominations will most likely be President Biden and Former President Trump, so many voters may not feel the need to show up. Onondaga County Elections Commissioner Dustin Czarny expects a low turnout.

Dustin Czarny, Onondaga County Elections Commissioner: “I think, you know, the voters that are going to show up today, pretty much show up at every election. That being said, it’s gonna be a very, very low turnout.”

Elisa Flynn, Reporter: Both Republicans and Democrats are able to cast their vote today, but in a blue county like Onondaga, Czarny says one party is heavy on the early voting.

Dustin Czarny, Onondaga County Elections Commissioner: “Right now, there’s more Democrats that have come to vote in early voting and the absentees, and so far today it’s about even, that’s usually how election days go, where Democrats get a slight edge later on in the night, uh, and especially in a blue county like this.”

Syracuse, N.Y. (NCC News) – Primary elections in New York State occurred today, with President Biden and Former President Trump as the presumptive party nominees. With these predictions, a low voter turnout was expected.

“The voters that are going to show up today, pretty much show up at every election. That being said, it’s gonna be a very, very low turnout,” said Onondaga County Elections Commissioner Dustin Czarny in an interview on the morning of April 2.

While both Democrats and Republicans were able to vote today, their voting methods differed. According to Czarny, Onondaga County Democrats “ha[d] come to vote in early voting and the absentee [ballots]” more than Republicans had. However, those who came to vote in person were equally Republicans and Democrats,” according to Czarny.

Even though the results are likely to be Biden and Trump, that doesn’t stop loyal voters from casting their ballots.
