THE CHANTS OF PROTESTORS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY… AND ALL OVER THE WORLD ECHOES THROUGH THE STREETS A PROTEST… A STATEMENT OR ACTION EXPRESSING DISAPPROVAL OF OR OBJECTION TO SOMETHING. WHAT THEY LEAVE OUT OF THAT DEFINITION IS THE EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL FATIGUE THAT YOU ENCOUNTER IF YOU CHOOSE TO PARTICIPATE.
(“In a lot of cities people are walking miles, it’s hot, there’s large crowds. Not to mention we are in a global pandemic.”)
DESPITE THIS PEOPLE IN DIFFERENT STATES AND IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES SHARE THE SAME RAGE… AND THE SAME MESSAGE… BLACK LIVES MATTER.THEY SHARE THE SAME PAIN
(“Why were we born this way? Why were we born into this? Why do people hate us, why, why, why?”)
THEY SHARE THE SAME EMOTION IN REGARDS TO BREONNA TAYLOR’S CASE WHERE NO ARRESTS WERE MADE
(“The fact that there has been much progress in Breonna Taylor’s case it’s like standing there and taking that all in you can just feel the hurt”)
THEY SHARE THE SAME LOVE AND SOLIDARITY
GOOD NEWS FOR PROTESTORS IS THAT THERE’S ALLIES
(” I am not a black person…I know this, but my small role as your borough president, as an Asian American is to do everything I can to do prevent anything from extinguishing this momentum this time”)
THERE’S VICTORIES HAPPENING THROUGHOUT THESE PROTESTS.IN WASHINGTON D.C. THEY RENAMED THE SECTION OF 16TH STREET TO BLACK LIVES MATTER PLAZA
(“In the midst of everything the small symbolic gesture, of like you matter, you’re seen, you’re here… “)
ALSO, IT WAS NOT IGNORED THAT COVID-19 IS VERY MUCH WELL AND ALIVE.SO FREE TESTS WERE GIVEN, BECAUSE YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO SURE, AND WITH THAT BEING SAID, I TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THIS.
QUEENS, N.Y. — The civil unrest after the trend of police brutality has sparked outrage throughout the country and throughout the world. Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd are the latest to fall victim to police brutality and/or bigotry resulting in their deaths. The way many people responded was through protest.
Shasche Allen, a Washington D.C. protester, and Tia Thevenin, a Toronto, Canada protester share the same passion for attaining equal rights for black people and people of color. In the moment it is exhilarating, but afterwards both admit to being physically, and more so mentally drained. The weather is unpredictable, there’s large crowds, and COVID-19 is still an issue.
Protests harbor a community of love and togetherness because they bring a lot of different people to the same space for a common cause. The protests continue to happen around the world as people wait for trials and charges of those responsible for the loss of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd.
