In order for the company to reopen, they had to submit to the government a document of steps that they were following because of the coronavirus. Vázquez says that the temperature of the employees is taken daily, it is required to wear a mask and wash their hands often. The company has a meeting every week.

“We have a safety meeting every Friday, and that’s just to touch basics. Has anyone had any cases? Has anyone had any accident? Is everything good?”

PONCE, PUERTO RICO (NCC News) — In addition to protecting its employees from a pandemic, a company in Puerto Rico has to be alert to ongoing earthquakes by following social distancing rules during an evacuation.

Last Saturday, Puerto Rico had several earthquakes. One of them had an epicenter in Ponce. Puerto Rico Distributors company sent their employees back home. During the process of evacuation, they had to follow social distancing rules.

“They had their distance. I only had four employees that day,” said the office manager of Puerto Rico Distributor, LLC Milta Vázquez.

Puerto Rico Distributors is located inside the Port of the Americas in Ponce. The company is dedicated to the distribution of merchandise for Home Depot stores. Vázquez said the company has a plan provided by the port.

“Every employee knows what to do in case they start hearing the noises or they start hearing the port roar,” said Vázquez.

Every Friday, the headquarters of the company has a meeting nationwide to discuss the Coronavirus and safety concerns.
