Resource Center Helps Patients Despite Distractions Resource Center Helps Patients Despite Distractions

SYRCAUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – Gambling Addiction is a form of abuse when one doesn’t understand moderation. It all begins when one says ” let me just see if I have a hot hand ” then three hours laters $500 is spent.

The Program Gambling Resource Center (PGRC) is not against gambling  and will not force their patients not to gamble but will encourage them to make the best decisions. Program Managers believe the best way to evaluate patients is understanding  the direction they want to head in.

” First thing we ask is  what are you concerns and where do you see yourself ?” said  Johnathan Crandall, Program Manager.

Some early signs of gambling addiction are: gambling with money that is needed to maintain a lifestyle , expecting family members and friends to get them out of debt, and raising bets to win money back during looses.

The Turning Stone sports betting lounge officially opened Thursday in Central New York. Patients from PGRC may be tempted but hopefully they will be able to keep their composure.

” Gambling addiction can’t be cured but it can be addressed ,” said Crandall.

Being addicted to gambling affects the person, their state of mind and their family members.

Another great thing with our resource center is not only can we connect the individual that struggling with the gambling problem we can also connect their family members or loved ones with treatment as well

An addiction can destroy an individual if they don’t seek the proper assistance.

Suicide rate is higher than any other addiction statistically
