SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Pfizer’s COVID-19 Booster shot is now approved for members of the Central New York Community. Only people who received their second dose more than six months ago are eligible for the booster shot.
Not all Central New Yorkers have access to the shots. The Center of Disease Controls list of who is eligible is listed below:
- Anyone age 65 and up
- Anyone 18 and up in a long-term care facility like a nursing home
- Anyone ages 18 to 64 with underlying medical conditions
- People ages 18 to 64 with a higher risk for Covid exposure because of their job or because they live somewhere like a prison or homeless shelter
COVID-19 Booster Shots will help aid the Central New York Community in limiting the spread of the Delta variant. With the shot becoming accessible to certain groups, many feel a sense of optimism and believe the end of the Pandemic may be near.
“If enough people get the booster shot, I believe we can flatten the curve.” Says Patrick Cochran.
Other members of the community agree. Jacquelin Morgan described how having a mother in a high risk COVID situation has made her an advocate for the vaccine “We have to stop being selfish and think of others, we can do that by getting the booster shot.” she says.
Both Wegmans and CVS have announced they will distribute the Pfizer Booster Shot. If you are looking to receive a COVID-19 Booster shot, you can visit the following links
