Student: I just was coming out of class and I saw this giant bus mobile something like that. And it was very enticing I will say that.
Kallan Arkeder: You can find the bus on Syracuse University’s Quad as WAYV Founder Julia Haber partnered with Shopify to take the bus on a college tour.
Julia Haber: So we curated this event with Shopify to really enhance the lives of college students and teach them a little bit about entrepreneurship and if and ever they want to be an entrepreneur how they can do it with Shopify.
Kallan Arkeder: Shopify comes to college campuses to give entrepreneurial students an interactive experience.
Julia Haber: So the ipads are part of the quiz experience. It’s called you plus Shopify. As you walk through the experience you can take a quiz and it spits out a score to say if and ever you are a business owner what kind of business owner you can be.
Kallan Arkeder: After taking the quiz students receive a free trial where Shopify experts support them in starting up their business.
Julia Haber: The WAYV mission is to enhance the lives of students. So bringing experiences like this to markets that don’t have access to things all the time is really my goal and making sure we can create an impact on campus.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News)– A big green bus stocked with iPads was parked on Syracuse University’s campus quad for students to check out between classes. The bus is operated by Shopify and WAYV as they are partnered to educate college students about starting a business. Syracuse Alumni Julia Haber brought the bus to campus as one of the schools on a four school tour.

“This is our second stop,” said WAYV Founder and CEO Julia Haber. “We were just at Cornell and then we’re headed to Babson and Bentley.”

WAYV’s mission is to bring opportunities to college campuses and their partnership with Shopify gives students the chance to make their ideas come to life. The Shopify bus brings an interactive experience as students can take a quiz to discover their potential as a future business owner while looking at examples of businesses started with Shopify.

“So we selected campuses with an entrepreneurial spirit and interest in potentially starting a business,” said Haber. “Entrepreneurship is scary. It’s hard sometimes to think you’re a good fit for it. This is supposed to demystify it and give people actionable steps to move forward.”

After taking the quiz, your results will tell you which type of entrepreneur you are and sets students up with a 60-day free trial. From there, Shopify experts can help students take the first steps in starting their own business.

“As you go through the experience, you learn about yourself,” said Haber. “Bringing experiences like this to markets that don’t have access to things all the time is really my goal and making sure we can create an impact on campus.”
