Sky Zone is Moving to Clay and Pickleball Courts are Likely to Take Over the Space Sky Zone Moving to Clay, Pickleball Courts Likely to Take Over the Space

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC NEWS)- At Sky Zone, patrons can run, swing, and jump. But, not for much longer at the Syracuse location.

Come early May, when their lease expires, Sky Zone will be moving from Syracuse to the Great Northern Mall in Clay. Sky Zone’s Managing Franchise Partner Pam Tuohey says the reason for the move is due to size constraints.

“Were landlocked here,” Tuohey said. “There’s no room for expansion. So, we have so much more we wanna offer to the community.”

In the new location, they are going to add attractions such as a Mega Launch Slide, Air Dash, and Air Court- a basketball court with an air-filled floor. Tuohey also says that party rooms are consistently booked up, so the new space will also have eight party rooms as opposed to the three they currently have.

With Sky Zone closing, even though patrons can’t jump, they will eventually be able to play pickleball.

In place of the Sky Zone trampolines, pickleball courts are likely to move in, and for local players like Cory Coakley, they are optimistic about the new addition.

“As long as there’s a court and people, I’ll play,” Coakley said.

Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in America, according to the Sports and Fitness Industry association. Here in Central New York, a league has been established with a multitude of players and Coakley believes the new courts will only add to the league.

“Indoor courts are at a premium,” Coakley said.

Though Sky Zone is moving out, Tuohey believes that the pickleball addition will help the community as a whole.

“To put pickleball in here is fantastic and I think it’ll help keep our community active and engaged,” Tuohey said. “So, I’m excited about that too because that’s what we’re all about.”
