Syracuse, NY(NCC News) – Skyline Apartments known for it’s deplorable living conditions and numerous code violations is now under new management.
The property, along with others like Chestnut Crossing and The James, has undergone a change in ownership and is now managed by the Clear Investment Group.
Former Skyline Apartments security guard, Shawn Johnson, says the reason on why he left was due to working conditions. “Just from the rats to the bed bugs, it was a lot to deal with it. I didn’t want to bring any infestation home to my family,” says Johnson.
Clear Investment Group says they have planned renovations and a planned evacuation of all residents by July 2023. Johnson says that some residents still remain in the buildings and other residents have been moved to other properties owned by Clear Investment Group. Resident James Donald, now residing at the The James, expressed his new living condition isn’t any better.
“There’s always fighting, crackheads, drug dealing going on. Maintenance really ain’t fixing nothing,” says Donald.
As Lifestyle Apartments navigates its past challenges, questions persist about the effectiveness of the new management in addressing longstanding issues. Clear Investment Group is aiming to remodel at least five apartments per month starting in January 2024.
