Syracuse's Landmark Theatre hosts classic play for six nights

SYRACUSE IS A CITY KNOWN FOR ITS HILLS… BUT WHAT IF THOSE
HILLS WERE ALIVE… WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC? STARTING NEXT WEEK, THAT
WILL COME TRUE WHEN THE BROADWAY PLAY THE SOUND OF MUSIC COMES TO THE LANDMARK THEATRE. KATIE STAM, THE MARKETING AND ADMINISTRATIVE
COORDINATOR FOR THE LANDMARK
THEATRE SAYS IT IS LOOKING FORWARD TO HOSTING A CLASSIC PLAY.

We’re very excited to have the show
here. It’s definitely a great show. It appeals to everybody, families, kids, everybody,
especially at the holiday time.

PART OF WHAT STAM SAYS
MAKES THE MUSICAL HOLD UP IS ITS ENDEARING STORY AND A CATCHY
SOUNDTRACK. AS FOR STAM’S
FAVORITE SONG FROM THE PLAY ABOUT TO HIT SYRACUSE?

Probably “My Favorite Things.” It’s just so positive, it’s uplifting. It’s a great scene in the movie itself and like I said, it’s something that has stuck around for so long and is
clearly popular with all audiences.

SHOWS WILL RUN FROM
TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY AND WILL START AT SEVEN-THIRTY AT NIGHT
DURING THE WEEK. TICKETS CAN BE PURCHASED ONLINE OR AT THE
LANDMARK THEATRE’S BOX OFFICE.

The Sound of Music made its Broadway debut almost 60 years ago, but now Central New Yorkers will get a chance to see the classic play as part of its 2018-19 U.S. tour. Beginning next week, the Sound of Music will stop in at Syracuse’s Landmark Theatre for six nights of shows.

The Landmark Theatre does not decide what plays come to the city, but the Marketing and Administrative Coordinator at the Landmark Theatre, Katie Stam, says the theatre still plays a huge role in the community and they’re looking forward to hosting a classic play such as Sound of Music.

“We’re very excited to have the show here,” Stam said. “It’s definitely a great show. It appeals to everybody, families, kids, everybody, especially at the holiday time.”

Part of what Stam says makes the musical hold up is its endearing story and catchy soundtrack.

Shows will run from Tuesday through Sunday and will start at 7:30 p.m. during the week. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Landmark Theatre’s box office. Discount tickets are also available for Syracuse University students and those participating in a charity drive.
