Student Protesters Request The Board Of Trustees Show Up Student Protesters Request The Board Of Trustees Show Up

The board has the power to put students' demand in effect.

SYRACUSE, N.Y (NCC NEWS) — –Student protesters asked Syracuse University’s Board of Trustees to show up at a meeting  next Monday after no agreements came out of a 90-minute negotiation Thursday  between SU administrators and  student organizers.  The administrators claimed that they had limited power to change things without the presence of the Board of Trustees.

While student protesters kept questioning and blaming the campus police (DPS), the campus police union said its  officers were receiving unfair treatments in this protest. The union sent a seven-page letter to Chancellor Kent Syverud Thursday,  pointing out that DPS officers were verbally and physically abused by student protesters. It said the protest movement had fabricated a negative and inaccurate image of DPS.

The negotiating meeting was live streamed  on NotAgain SU’s Instagram. Although school administrators said the  recording made it hard to speak freely, student organizers insisted that recording was necessary and transparent. Students said Monday’s meeting will also be live streamed on Instagram.

Student protestors blocked traffic for nearly two hours Wednesday at the intersection of S. Crouse and Waverly Avenues (see the map below). Most wore  black masks  in order to protect themselves.
