SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Baseball season is back. The Syracuse Mets begin their 2022 campaign Tuesday evening, and there is a lot for fans to be cheerful about. There will be two new concession stands at the ballpark with Pavone’s Pizza and Danny’s Steaks. Mets Director of Broadcasting and Director of Media Relations Michael Tricarico noted that this will help improve the overall fan experience.

“One thing that we heard from our fans last year, and for the last few years, was they wanted some more food options,” Tricarico said. “We’re certainly happy to be able to provide that.”

Another aspect of Opening Day, and the 2022 season, that Mets fans can be happy about are the lessened COVID restrictions. There are no more mask requirements or a need to show proof of vaccination. Since this is the case, Mets broadcaster Evan Stockton said America’s pastime has returned.

“It’s normal again, and let’s enjoy normalcy,” Stockton said. “So come on out and let’s have some fun.”

Following the opening game, there were fireworks for fans to enjoy, the first of many times this season that the team will have a fireworks show following a home matchup.
