SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – National Night Out helps residents in Syracuse to see law enforcement as people rather than just officers.
National Night Out is a community-building campaign that seeks to help communities across America, have a better outlook on local law enforcement.
The Syracuse Police Department has hosted National Night Out for the past five years.
Syracuse Police Department Lieutenant Matthew Malinowski says the event will include many ways for residents to engage with the police department.
“We’ll have food, bounce houses, music, games and other community partners and organizations,” Malinowski said.
Malinowski and the SPD are confident that National Night Out is an effective way to positively reach communities in Syracuse.
“I find it to be a very successful event and an opportunity where we can get together with each other one on one as people not necessarily as law enforcement officer to citizen,” Malinowski said.
The Syracuse Police Department hosts National Night Out at Long Branch Park in Liverpool.
The event takes place annually on the first Tuesday in August.
