SYRACUSE N.Y.– The Catholic Diocese of Buffalo has said that a former Northside Syracuse priest has multiple child sex abuse allegations.
Rev. James Smyka was a priest at Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Church. He also worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse.
Smyka was just recently added to a list published by the Diocese of Buffalo in March. The list includes 45 other living former priests.
However, the Diocese of Syracuse claims no sexual misconduct against Smyka. The Diocese of Syracuse was aware that Smyka would be leaving his residency at the Northside church, but they were not aware of the claims from the Diocese of Buffalo.
