By Moriah Humiston SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC NEWS) — Tonight is the opening night of the first night of the ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ 50th anniversary tour. Syracuse student Amanda Gabriel is assisting with directing the show, and although she has worked in musical theatre since high school, this is the most elaborate show for her yet.
“It’s the 50th anniversary tour so no expense was spared, this set is amazing, the cast is… I don’t even have words,” Gabriel said. “It blows your mind.”
Although other students at Syracuse University have assisted with productions at the Landmark Theatre, Gabriel’s experience is different. The bosses and producers of the show she has been taking notes for, are her parents.
“I’ve been lucky in that they really want to include us in it and as I’ve gotten older I’ve been like wow okay, I really want to do this for myself,” Gabriel said.
Gabriel will be taking notes for the directors tonight through October 4th at the shows, making sure that each night is super. The shows will start each night at 7:30 p.m at the Landmark Theatre, located on South Salina Street in Syracuse.
