Syracuse, N.Y.(NCC News)- In Syracuse University the Muslim population is growing. There are Muslim students from over 30 countries.
Hendricks Chapel Associate Dean Rebecca Reed has started to notice a shift in the culture.
“What I’ve seen certainly is the engagement of Muslim students in length at the chapel has grown significantly over the past five years,” Reed said
This helps forge a better sense of community with each other.
Muslim students are very active in the community. Reed talks about how the chapel wants to help Muslim students to be active.
“Students whenever they’re interested in doing some kind of a service project, we often help them with transportation and funding,” Reed said.
Reed also talked about how the chapel wants Muslim students to be proud of their identity.
“They can go out and be good ambassadors of who they are and their identity,” Reed said “To you know provide leadership in Central New York or beyond”
Because Muslim students are proud of who they are they represent Syracuse University in a good fashion and help organizations in Central New York.
