Syracuse Women’s Lacrosse Sets Sights to Postseason Syracuse Women's Lacrosse Sets Sights to Postseason

The Orange Begin ACC Tournament play Friday against Virginia

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — The regular season is in the books for Syracuse Women’s Lacrosse.

The Atlantic Coastal Conference Tournament is now on the horizon for the No. 3 ranked Orange.

But if you ask returning seniors like attack Megan Carney, more is on the line this postseason than an ACC title.

“If we can put it all together and play a full 60 minutes of Syracuse Lacrosse, I mean, we can win a national championship,” Carney said. “We can beat any of the teams that we are playing.”

The Orange stormed out of the gates hot this season with three wins against top ten opponents, trying to prove to the country that 2nd place isn’t good enough for the number three ranked Orange.

The road back to the big game won’t be an easy one, but the first step of that journey for Carney and SU is taking home an ACC championship for the first time in seven years.

“We’re definitely taking it one game at a time, just playing our game of lacrosse, working together and try to get to the next game,” Carney said.

Syracuse opens up postseason play Friday against Virginia.

The Orange defeated the Cavaliers back in March, 17-11.

A win against UVA would advance SU to the semifinals for a potential matchup against Boston College for a national title rematch, or Virginia Tech.

“I would just say there just a fast team, they’re aggressive, they’re a great team,” Carney said. “We can’t take them lightly just because we’ve already beat them, but yeah we’re looking forward to it.”
