SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC NEWS) — The Rosamond Gifford Zoo kicks off its “Holiday Nights” celebration this Friday with an extra touch of spirit. The zoo’s holiday tradition, which started three years ago, is letting adults add some wintery alcohol to their hot cocoa this year.
Heidi Strong, Zoo Director of Development, said guests will have some extra warmth as they walk around the zoo at night.
“Guests that are 21 or older are going to be able to purchase hot cocoa with a little bit of a kick with either Baileys Irish Cream or Peppermint Schnapps,” Strong said.
The zoo will donate one dollar of every hot cocoa purchased to United Way of Central New York, a nonprofit organization that helps impoverished members of the CNY community. They also invite local businesses, artisans and vendors to set up booths during the event which gives these artists a chance to get some last-minute sales during the holiday season and get their companies’ names out there to the CNY community.
Holiday Nights will run on Fridays and Saturdays of December from the 1 through the 16′. Additional information can be found on the Zoo’s website at https://www.rosamondgiffordzoo.org/zoo-events/upcoming-events/holiday-nights/
