I HOPE PEOPLE THINK OF US WHEN IT COMES FOURTH OF JULY. WE DO HAVE PLENTY OF COCKTAILS, WE CAN THROW EM IN A PLASTIC CUP, PUT A LID ON IT, TAPE IT SHUT AND SEND YOU ON YOUR WAY. AND THEY’RE COOL CAUSE THEY’RE ONLY ABOUT LIKE 10 DOLLARS SO IT ADDS TO OUR INCOME.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — On Saturday, a 30-day extension was issued by Gov. Andrew Cuomo that continued the state’s waiver of pickup or delivery for alcoholic drinks from bars and restaurants.

The waiver has been in place since March 2020 and local businesses have had the opportunity to make great profit.

Bartender Brian Carr of Margaritas Mexican Cantina in Syracuse says takeout cocktails have helped sales skyrocket throughout the pandemic.

“Selling to-go margaritas, we’ve sold a ton of those,” said Carr. “Sales have definitely been crazy…”

Local restaurant owner Andrew Gold of Funk & Waffles says its been great selling to-go beverages, something that was not an option prior to the pandemic.

“We were never abled to do that in the past,” said Gold. “During the pandemic they let us have take out alcohol…it adds to our income so that’s nice.”

State rules still apply when handling takeout beverages: The alcohol has to be in a sealed container, selling beverages is only permitted during regulation hours and customers are required to follow the states open container laws.

We encourage everyone to drink responsibly!
