SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — The Taste of Syracuse returned to the city for the first time since 2019 today. The event started at 11 a.m. and will continue until Saturday night.
The event features local food vendors, live music and even offers a dedicated “kid zone.”
Ernesto Sinchico is a local vendor at the Taste of Syracuse. He said he was happy to see the festival return after an extended absence.
“I’m very happy because of all of the festival[s] I missed for two years,” Sinchico said. “I am [happy] here to be back in the festival.”
It’s not just the Taste of Syracuse, but all festivals that Sinchico is happy to see return. While he’s a Syracuse resident, his business stays on the road — travelling to festivals where he can pitch his tent and sell his merchandise.
“That’s part of my job, I travel from festival to festival,” Sinchico said.
“No more COVID, I want to continue doing business,” Sinchico said. “I’m happy about that.”
Dunkin’ Donuts was one of a few non-local food vendors featured at the Taste of Syracuse. The coffee and donuts chain came prepared for national donut day — offering free donuts to the first 1,000 visitors at their tent on Friday.
“We’re really excited to be back at the Taste of Syracuse after two years,” Christina Dehm, a Dunkin’ spokesperson said. “It’s great to be back in the community, especially on National Donut Day. We’re celebrating that with free donuts, which is exciting and a great way to get people out on their lunch break and celebrating in the community.”
The Taste of Syracuse is free to the public and is located downtown at Clinton Square.
