By: Nia Gibson SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – Syracuse Police have captured and charged a 16-year-old for the numerous break-ins and vandalism in the Tipperary Hill Neighborhood.
The teenager was hit with 37 charges including criminal mischief in the third-degree and grand larceny in the fourth-degree.
Nine cars were broken into in front of St. Patrick’s Loft Apartments last weekend, according to police records.
With New York state’s new age laws of what is considered an adult, the teenager will not be tried as an adult. According to Syracuse public information officer Matthew Malinowski, since the teenager is a juvenile he will most likely have an alternative punishment as opposed to a long jail sentence.
The teenager, whose name is not being released because of his age, is currently being held at Hillbrook Detention Center.
