SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC NEWS) – Tessy Plastics is set to give each of the company employees $2,000 to help with the financial burdens being caused by COVID-19.
Many companies across the globe are being forced into layoffs due to the financial impact that the coronavirus is having on economies. Tessy Plastics President Roland Beck told company employees that each worker will receive a $2,000 check, regardless if they are working still or not.
“I am giving you this money so that you can afford to stay at home if you wish and to help with the unknown cost this pandemic will have on you and your family,” Beck said in the letter to the employees.
Approximately 40% of the production Tessy does has been shut down due to the mandate of Governor Andrew Cuomo for only “essential” production to continue. The essential aspects of Tessy include medical devices, food packaging, and feminine hygiene products.
The total of the payments will cost Tessy approximately $2 million. Tessy is a plastic parts producer that has three factories in Onondaga County; Elbridge, Skaneateles, and Van Buren.
