SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – Thanos Import Market is a Mediterranean deli and grocery. This year is the business’s 100th year anniversary and they are changing up the sandwich menu after the new year. Owner Soula Carni has worked for four other businesses and has been in the food industry for 30 years. Thanos has been at its current location for three years.
“The sandwiches…I’d say they’ve become extremely popular in the last three years when we moved,” said Carni. “A lot of business come and get lunch from us.”
During the school year, when Syracuse University students are on campus, Carni said they are much busier. With the holiday approaching, they are preparing for business to pick up even more.
“Next week come Thanksgiving were going to be crazy busy,” said Carni. “We’re very well known for our seasoned olives, our cheeses, our salami, and our sopressata, that people will come in to have for the holiday season.”
The emergence of different apps and advanced technology is affecting small businesses everywhere. Carni said that it impacts a large portion of company’s profit. Thanos relies on word of mouth in order to grow its customer base.
