The Syracuse basketball team gained another member of the Boeheim family this offseason. Junior walk-on Nick Giancola is the nephew of head coach Jim Boeheim and the cousin of sophomore Buddy Boeheim.
He joined the team after a turbulent two years to start his college career. After originally attending Syracuse as a freshman, he transferred home to the University of Kentucky, and then returned to Syracuse this year with a spot on the team.
Basketball manager Thomas Tuosto said that Giancola represents what Syracuse basketball is all about.
“Nick is definitely one of those guys who embodies the whole hardworking, show up early, stay later, give it 110% kind of attitude that our program tries to put out,” said Tuosto.
The basketball team opens the season on November 6 against Virginia in the Dome.
