The Great Debate of Christmas The Great Debate of Christmas

EMILY COFFEY: There is one question on many people’s minds this time of year… Is it ok to celebrate Christmas the day after Halloween?

BERNIE: Not ok, not ok. That’s a premature decision. You gotta get into the head space for it, and I just feel like right after Halloween it’s just too early.

JACK: Just slow your role, like you’re getting ahead of the game here. It means, you know what that means, it means you’re too commercial. It means I gotta go to the store, I gotta beat the mob. That’s how my mom thinks, I am not in my mom mode yet.

RYAN: You do too much celebrating you’re going to get sick of it. So, it’s like, hold off a bit.

EMILY: They may have thought it is too early to celebrate Christmas… but there is one person who believes Christmas should be celebrated year-round. So, grab a cup of coco, cuddle up, and she might just convince you. Abbie Kuldt loves Christmas and she’s a big believer in not only celebrating Christmas right after Halloween but celebrating every day of the year.

ABBIE KLUDT: Um, I love Christmas. It’s my favorite ‘day’ of the year but I do celebrate year-round.

EMILY: How does a person celebrate Christmas year-round? Abbie celebrates year-round with a Christmas phone case, apple watch, anklet, and even designed her apps to be Christmas themed. And oh, I forgot. Her ringtone and alarm are her favorite song.

ABBIE: Oh, I love this song.

EMILY: Why does Abbie love Christmas so much?

ABBIE: I mean the classic is like the best time of the year.

EMILY: This is a question that Abbie does not take lightly.

ABBIE: That’s a hard question. That’s a really hard question. The look on someone’s face is priceless when you give them something they’ve always wanted. Or something they could never have or would never have bought for themselves. And I think being able to bring someone so much joy is probably the best feeling in the world.

EMILY: Whether you think it’s too early to celebrate Christmas or not.

ABBIE: Santa

EMILY: It’s safe to say that it really is the best time of the year.

ABBIE: This actually might be what I go watch tonight.

EMILY: And maybe… just maybe it can be celebrated all year-round. From Syracuse, I’m Emily Coffey for NCC News.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – Christmas is always a hot button issue the day after Halloween. Many people believe it is too early to celebrate Christmas, and some have been waiting all year for the first day of November to celebrate again.

I thought there were only two sides, that was until I met Abbie Kludt.

“I love Christmas! It’s my favorite ‘day’ of the year, but I do celebrate year round,” said Kludt.

Kludt celebrates year round, and she can often be caught decked out in Christmas fashion. From her Christmas scruchie and anklet, to her phone case and the apps on her phone. It is clear Kludt loves Christmas.

It is not often that someone is this obsessed with Christmas, and the only question that comes to mind is why? For Kludt Christmas is about love, family and the joy of gift giving.

“The look on someone’s face is priceless when you give them something they’ve always wanted, or something they could never have or would never buy for themselves,” said Kludt. “And I think that being able to bring someone so much joy is probably the best feeling in the world.”

Whether you believe Christmas should be celebrated the day after Halloween or not. To Kludt, there is no debate that Christmas truly is the best time of the year.
