By Sharif King SYRACUSE, N.Y.(NCC News) – Central New York’s Ronald McDonald House is making wishes come true. On July 25th, the charity is holding it’s annual “Christmas In July” event for families and children who are staying there.

“All families benefit from items collected,” said Catherine Cross, a Ronald McDonald House Fundraising and Development Associate.

According to the charity’s official website, each year approximately 25 hundred family members, including 900 children, stay with us. With so many guests to serve, there is a high demand for everyday items.

Contributors are asked to bring basic essentials, such as bottled water, extra-large trash bags, and store gift cards.

Not everyone qualifies for assistance from the Ronald McDonald House.

“They are referred here,” Cross said. “So without a referral we don’t accept just people walking in.”

The Ronald McDonald House is creating miracles for every family recommended.

Cross says, “On the 25th we will be setup to greet every one and receive those donations. They’ll come in, we’ll have the tree setup, we’ll have some little gifts to give away and then we will accept the donations.”

The donations are sacred to parents of the children receiving medical care. A home away from home atmosphere is constructed with every donation given.You can make a contribution at the Ronald McDonald House in Central New York on July 25th.
